A zone is one chunk of yard on one valve. Its grass species, soil texture, and area drive how much water the engine schedules; everything else has a sensible default under Advanced.

One zone = one chunk of yard tied to one valve. Pick grass species + soil texture + measured precip rate; the engine computes ETc, soil bucket, and runtime from there. See the species catalog and soil textures for reference.
